Get to Know Us: Familiars & Spirit Animals

Every witch’s journey is deeply personal, and the bonds we form with our familiars and spirit animals often reflect the heart of that path. These connections aren’t just mystical companions; they are guides, protectors, and reflections of who we are and who we’re becoming.

In this post, we’re sharing the stories of how our familiars came into our lives and the wisdom our spirit animals bring. From chance encounters to soul-deep connections, each tale carries its own magick—and we invite you to discover what they mean to us.

Debraliz's Familiar

The universe gifted me my familiar, Esmeralda. I never wanted a cat—until one day it hit me so hard I felt it in my bones: I wanted a cat. The thing is, I’m not a “cat person.” I love cats, but they don’t love me back. Vivi and I became regulars at the Orlando Cat Café; for months we’d go, and I was the Meredith Grey of the place—“pick me, choose me, love me”—only to be gently rejected. Then one day a bowling-ball of a cat settled between Vivi and me and rested her head in my hands like, See me. I’m here.

Esmeralda, also known as Emmy, is my magickal anchor. She keeps me grounded and focused, helping me channel my energy into whatever craft I’m working on. On my bad days or during flare-ups, she amplifies my strength and support.

Viviana's Familiar

As Debraliz mentioned, we had become regulars at the Orlando Cat Cafe (seriously, could you blame us? Kitties and coffee!!) and in one of those visits we had the whole gang with us aka my hubby, our kiddo and kiddo's girlfriend. My husband was teasing me that I would end up bringing a cat home with us at one of these visits and I 100% said nope. I'm good. No more kitties. On that day, it was rather busy and there was a kitten sleeping who had been tried to be awaken a few times and they were not having it. So I sat next to them since they would just continue to sleep. Within a few minutes of sitting down, he began to stir and did a nice stretch and sure enough, his placed his paw on my thigh... and then proceeded to chirp and get up on my lap. Perfect example of how we don't control things and also how things that are meant to be will be. Hung out with him and sure enough brought him home. He is absolutely adorable and playful and knows when I need to have him be there for me if I'm having a down day or if I need him to help ground me when I'm all over the place. He has this calmness to him which in my chaos its much needed. As for spirit animals.... Debraliz and I have lots of similar ones, including Butterflies, wolves and spiders. I also have a crow and a black panther (they are just big kitties). Crows: symbolizes transformation, intelligence, adaptability, and a connection to the spiritual realm. The crow is a powerful messenger, encouraging you to develop intuition, see through illusions, and embrace change by drawing on its wisdom and capacity for strategic thinking. It also represents the ability to navigate the unknown and find solutions to challenges.

Black Panther: symbolizes power, mystery, inner strength, and a connection to the shadow self, encouraging you to embrace transformation, face fears, and trust your instincts with grace. It also represents divine protection, sacred feminine energy, and the balance between the physical and spiritual realms, urging you to find confidence and wisdom in navigating life's challenges.
